Dearborn's climate — a climate shaped by the region's Great Lakes position, somewhat milder in winter than western Michigan's snowbelt — supports an active stinging-insect season lasting several months. Eaves, wall voids, sheds, and dense landscaping all offer nesting sites that are hard to spot until a nest is already established.
