German cockroaches favor warm, humid spaces near food and water — kitchens, behind appliances, under sinks — and Lomira's a continental climate where both summer warmth and severe winter cold define the year, more so in the north than the south keeps them active most of the year. American cockroaches, larger and reddish-brown, prefer basements, drains, and utility rooms. Housing here ranges from historic dairy-farm homes to newer lake-country cabins, with basements standard throughout.
