German cockroaches favor warm, humid spaces near food and water — kitchens, behind appliances, under sinks — and Rose's a climate shaped by the region's proximity to the Ozark Plateau, wetter and greener than the plains further west keeps them active most of the year. American cockroaches, larger and reddish-brown, prefer basements, drains, and utility rooms. Housing here ranges from early-1900s oil-boom construction in Tulsa to more rural, wooded-lot homes toward the Ozark foothills.
