German cockroaches favor warm, humid spaces near food and water — kitchens, behind appliances, under sinks — and Vanndale's a humid subtropical climate with hot, muggy summers, mild winters, and high year-round humidity typical of the Mississippi Delta keeps them active most of the year. American cockroaches, larger and reddish-brown, prefer basements, drains, and utility rooms. Housing here is a mix of older farmhouses and small-town ranch homes, with crawl-space foundations that are especially vulnerable to Delta humidity.
Treatment starts with locating the harborage points — the tight, warm, food-adjacent spaces roaches actually live in — and applying gel bait directly there rather than spraying open floor space.
