Dos Rios's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. A mix of older wood-frame homes built into forested terrain and newer construction, most vulnerable to moisture given the persistently wet climate. Combined with the local climate — a temperate rainforest climate typical of the redwood coast, wetter and cooler than almost anywhere else in the state — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
