Fort Calhoun's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. Newer suburban subdivisions dominate here, built during the Omaha metro's recent growth, with basements standard for winter protection. Combined with the local climate — a four-season Great Plains climate with real winter cold, moderated slightly by the urban heat of the metro area — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
