Subterranean termites need soil contact and moisture to thrive, and Houlton's conditions — a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers, colder in the north than the southeastern corridor — create exactly that. A blend of older agricultural-area homes and forest or lake-adjacent cabins, built with real winter cold in mind. Termite colonies can go undetected for years, quietly compromising structural wood the entire time.
Because termite colonies operate underground and out of sight, our process leans heavily on inspection: checking every foundation wall, sill plate, and crawl space for activity. From there we deploy either soil treatment or a Sentricon-style bait and monitoring program, both backed by a written service report.
