Jelm's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. Wood-frame mountain homes and cabins built for extreme snow loads, most with basements, on forested or high-meadow lots. Combined with the local climate — an alpine climate with genuinely severe winters and a very short growing season — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
