Waubun's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. Older farmhouses and small-town homes, nearly all with full basements built to handle the region's extreme winter cold. Combined with the local climate — a climate with some of the coldest winter temperatures in the lower 48, especially in the northern part of the state — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
