Witter's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. Older river-valley homes sit alongside newer construction expanding into the wooded foothills, and basements are notably more common than in the Delta. Combined with the local climate — a four-season humid subtropical climate, with elevation in the surrounding foothills keeping winters a bit colder than the Delta — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
