Subterranean termites need soil contact and moisture to thrive, and Gasquet's conditions — a temperate rainforest climate typical of the redwood coast, wetter and cooler than almost anywhere else in the state — create exactly that. A mix of older wood-frame homes built into forested terrain and newer construction, most vulnerable to moisture given the persistently wet climate. Termite colonies can go undetected for years, quietly compromising structural wood the entire time.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
