Winkelman's housing stock is part of what determines termite risk. A mix of early-to-mid-20th-century mining-company housing, later ranch-style homes, and newer construction, often built into hillside terrain. Combined with the local climate — a climate positioned between the desert floor and the mountains — warmer than the high country, milder than the Phoenix valley, with real summer monsoons — soil-to-wood contact points around the foundation are the most common entry route.
Termite treatment starts with identifying exactly where the colony is accessing the structure, since a targeted approach is far more effective than a blanket treatment. Depending on the property, we recommend either a liquid soil treatment creating a barrier around the foundation, or a bait-station monitoring system that's checked on a schedule.
